Why You Should Book In For A Cervical Smear Test

Wednesday 24 January 2018

The reason why you should book in for your cervical smear test ladies is because it could potentially save your life.
From 22nd - 28th January 2018. Jo's Trust is launching it's campaign #Smear4Smear.
Click here to be directed to the website.
#Smear4Smear is to spread awareness about the importance of having a smear test.
I want to open up and share with you my personal experience with receiving a abnormal result.
I had my first smear test when I turned 25. I was nervous and to make me feel more at ease the nurse explained to me the procedure and drew me a little diagram on a piece of paper with a pen about what would happen.
The smear was over in less than 5 minutes and it only felt slightly uncomfortable because of the vagina spectrum. This a tool which opens up the vagina walls so that the nurse can take a swab sample of your cervix.
A couple of weeks later I got a results letter which said that my sample showed up that I had low grade abnormal cells.
The NHS wanted to investigate further into my results so I got referred to hospital for a colposcopy appointment a few weeks later.
While I was waiting for my appointment, I was browsing through Jo's Trust website. It's jam-packed of information with everything you need to know about smear tests, abnormal results, colposcopy procedures and more.
I found that learning as much as I could through the site helped me to feel more relaxed at when I attended the colposcopy appointment.
The doctor uses a microscope to look closer at your cervix and a special liquid to highlight the abnormal cells. A small sample of tissue is taken from the cervix to see if any further treatment is required.
I received the results from the biopsy a few weeks later and the doctors decided that I didn't need any further treatment. I'm absolutely fine and have been put back onto 3 yearly smear tests.
Please book yourself in for a smear test :) it's better to know your results because if anything is found then it can be treated early.

January Essentials

Saturday 20 January 2018

Fancy beating the January blues? well I've decided to share with you my January Essentials to help put a smile on your face.
The products which I use in the month of January are for extra self-care because I find this month a little depressing. All I want to do is hibernate in my bed, watch movies and eat an unlimited amount of snacks.
I like to choose products which will help me get through the month by cheering myself up. I'm a fan colourful packaging and fruity scents.
In the winter months, I am more of a bath person. I love having a nice long hot soak in the tub to relax and warm up my body from the harsh cold weather outside. However, submerging your body in hot water for too long is not great for your skin as it dries it out. I like to go for a moisturising bath soak or foam to keep my skin moisturized. Which leads to my first January Essential,
Baylis & Harding Beauticology Tropical Cocktail Bathfoam
For Christmas, I got gifted a 400ml bottle of Baylis & Harding Beauticology Tropical Cocktail Bath Foam. Baylis & Harding are cruelty-free as their products are made in the UK. I've been using this since Christmas and I like the fruity tropical scent as it reminds me of beach holidays and tropical islands.  The bath foam contains shea butter which is moisturising to the skin. The packaging has beautiful paintings of fruit which are bright and eye-catching. I'm currently enjoying using this in my bathtub.
Dunelm's Coconut & Vanilla Scented Candle
What makes an excellent pairing with a bath? Candles
I also got gifted for Christmas a Coconut & Vanilla Scented Mason Jar Candle from Dunelm. The light scent of tropical and sweet scent adds a nice touch to my tropical paradise bubble bath experience. I like how when you have finished using the candle then you have a nice mason glass jar to drink out of. It's got 10 hours burning time so if I start using it now then I can use it to drink out of by March. For some reason, it takes me a long time to use up candles. Is anybody else the same? let me know in the comments below.
Disney's "Moana" DVD
If you need a film to watch which makes you feel good then I would definitely watch Disney's "Moana". It'a wonderful story about a young 16-year-old girl called Moana who goes on an ocean voyage with Maui. The music in the film is superb as it's catchy to sing-along to. Especially the song "You're welcome" as it will be stuck in your head for months.

What are your January essentials? let me know in the comments below. I'm always looking for inspiration.

Hayley

Tuesday 9 January 2018

Early Sunday afternoon as I was relaxing at my computer sipping a cup of green tea and staring out of my window thinking about the year ahead and what blog posts I should write. I logged onto Twitter and the lovely Kaylea from WillFlirtForFood has nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger award. The thumbnail for this post is when I visited Chilwell Allotments back in Summer 2016. They had some of the biggest and beautiful sunflowers which I have ever seen in my life.
